LETTER: We should not have to pay to visit Towneley Hall
We had been looking forward to our visit to the town, the highlight of the day was to be a visit to Towneley Hall.
After several hours of browsing round the local shops and making numerous purchases, we set off for the park where we enjoyed a picnic lunch.
Then for the main event of our trip, a look round the hall.

Hide AdThat is when we found out, much to our dismay, there was an admission charge of £4 each for non-residents of Burnley.
After shopping for a couple of hours, supporting the local businesses, I couldn’t believe we would have to pay £8.
I understand children and students are free.
Surely we are not the only people to have experienced this and I don’t know of any other museums and places of interest who charge like this for non-residents of a town and not even special concessions for OAPs who have the time to visit these places but, unfortunately living on a limited budget, do not have the money.
I feel this is total discrimination as we are welcome to come and line the pockets of the Burnley shopkeepers but are then being fleeced to enjoy the amenities the town has to offer.
Needless to say we never did see the hall and Burnley will not be on our list of places to visit again.
