Motorbike ran red light before crashing

A motorcycle which crashed into a car in Burnley today had gone through a red light after being requested to stop by police.

The accident, which happened around 11am at the junction with Todmorden Road and Lyndhurst Road, resulted in minor injuries to the 24-year-old motorcyclist.

A police spokesman said: “A patrol car had requested the motorcycle to stop before it went through a red light and crashed into a Nissan Qashqai.

“The motorcyclist was taken to hospital and inquiries are still ongoing.”

The road was closed for a time following the incident.
