Burnley mum and award winner is an inspiration
Fallon Boonsawet picked up a Promoting Independence Award at Great Places Housing Group's Community Stars Awards.
Despite facing a number of personal challenges, when Fallon moved back to Burnley with her young daughter, she was determined to succeed and used her crafting skills to set up her own business, producing and selling bespoke leather goods.

Hide AdShe has since presented to the Chamber of Commerce, and sells her products online, as well as showcasing them at artisan markets and festivals across the country.
Fallon said: “When I read the descriptions of everyone else in my category, I really didn’t think I was going to win. I was so surprised when they said my name.
“I’ve had so much support from Great Places since I told them my idea for a business and this award is just the icing on the cake – I even made a sale at the event.”
Fallon wasn’t the only Burnley resident to take home a prize.

Hide AdMohammed Jan, who runs a community sewing class for local women to meet new people and develop new skills, was also commended in the Community Champion category – taking home a ‘Special Recognition’ certificate for her efforts.
